About Redwood Hub Advisory
Practical advisory for people who build, repair, and maintain real structures — not abstract portfolios.
Official business details
Registered business name: Redwood Hub Advisory
Established: 2012
Principal office: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
How we started
Redwood Hub Advisory began when two former site supervisors — one from residential building, one from civil earthworks — kept getting called by former colleagues for advice on subcontractor disputes, margin leaks, and crew scheduling. What started as informal phone calls became structured engagements by 2012, when we registered the business and opened our Brisbane office.
We have never pivoted into software or product sales. Our work remains face-to-face advisory, document review, site visits, and structured planning sessions with the people who sign contracts and stand on the slab.
Who we work with
Our clients are typically:
- Residential and light commercial builders running 3–15 concurrent jobs
- Civil and earthworks contractors on drainage, road, and subdivision packages
- Specialist trade businesses (concrete, roofing, glazing) scaling crew size
- Family-owned firms preparing for director transitions or licence renewals
Most operate in Queensland. We also take engagements in northern New South Wales and interstate when the scope justifies travel.
Our approach
We begin every engagement with what is already on your desk: signed contracts, current job list, crew roster, and the last three months of invoices and progress claims. We do not arrive with a generic framework and try to fit your business into it.
Site visits are common. We want to see how materials move, how crews communicate, and where decisions actually get made — usually not in the office.
We document recommendations in plain language. If a council condition or QBCC requirement is relevant, we cite it. If a subcontractor clause needs renegotiation, we show you the wording.
Values we hold
Honesty about limits. We will tell you when a structural engineer, lawyer, or accountant should lead. We do not practice outside our lane.
Respect for trades. Our advisers have held tools. We do not talk down to crews or treat site supervisors as obstacles.
Queensland context. Weather windows, regional supplier networks, and state licensing rules shape every recommendation we make.
The team
Gavin Redwood — Principal adviser. Former site supervisor and contracts manager. Fifteen years in residential and civil construction before consulting.
Priya Nandakumar — Operations and workforce adviser. Background in crew scheduling for multi-storey concrete and fit-out packages.
Tom Ellison — Cost and procurement adviser. Former estimator for civil drainage and road projects.
We keep the team small so clients work directly with advisers, not account managers.
